Whats in a CSA?

Learn about a CSA share with Another Spring Farm

What is a CSA?

CSA stands for community supported agriculture. When purchasing a CSA you are investing first hand in a partnership with Another Spring farm. You are building a deep relationship with your food and your farmers. CSA membership is rooted in Black history. As early as the 1960s and 1970s, Booker T. Whatley was pioneering sustainable agriculture through small farms with members that provided the farmer with a guaranteed market. Read more about Booker T. Whatley here. Today CSA’s do just that. By becoming a member you are supporting your farmer to be able to plan production and have stability as a farmer. Most farmers rely on the height of the season for most of their funds, leaving a large part of the year to live off of savings. CSA’s support your farmer with a steady income when the largest amount of purchases are made, in the beginning of the growing season.

In this CSA share you will receive produce harvested the same day brought straight to your door weekly. Our veggies rely on our soil, nature and labor of farmers. Experience the growing process with your farmers and the realities of produce and what it takes to bring them to you. Our shares will include a variety of fresh or dried flowers as well as medicinal herbs in a variety of forms from dried, fresh, teas blends, salves and more! At Another Spring we are working hard to offer a holistic share that nourishes the body and the spirit.

How does it work?

A CSA from Another Spring farm consists of vegetables grown organically that will vary week to week. Our CSA is priced at $45/ week and should feed 3-5 people, though this varies greatly on your habits. This includes 6-10+ different veggies and fruits received weekly for 24 weeks! All our veggies, flowers and herbs are grown on the farm with intention and love. It is the goal of Another Spring farm to bring joy and love through nourishing foods.

As a CSA member you also receive a weekly newsletter with information on what you are receiving and how to use it!

CSA members also get access to our u-pick flower days at no additional cost! Come to the farm and pick some blooms for yourself or loved ones! CSA membership is also intended to connect you to the farm, your farmer and each other. Farm events and member meet ups will be arranged throughout the season.

This year we are offering flower subscription as an add on to your share! Please add a bucket of blooms to your cart when checking out. This will get you 20+ blooms delivered with your CSA to keep your home colorful throughout the season.

🌸Importantly we offer CSA shares for no cost or pay what you want to BIPOC, Black, Indigenous to the Americas,🌸 and historically marginalized People of color. If you identify as BIPOC please visit our store and sign up to be a CSA member which includes 24 weeks of veggies, flowers and herbs grown for your health and abundance.

Payment plans are available and can be set up to meet your needs. A deposit of 20% will be made the day of purchase, the rest of the payments can be made throughout the season monthly, quarterly or whatever works for you. Half shares are also available. Half shares are great for small households or those who travel. It is 12 weeks and those 12 weeks can be decided by you. Receive your share bi weekly or split them up however you like!

Please consider donating towards a BIPOC share along with your CSA purchase. You can do that at time of purchase or anytime throughout the season.

It has become a privilege to know your farmer. This work intends to normalize knowing where your food comes from and being connected deeply to what your region offers throughout the season.

What does it mean to Sponsor a share…

Last season more than half of our CSA’s went out at a ‘pay what you want’ price to peoples who have been historically marginalized. We understand the weight and importance of food equity and access. This 2022 season we are allotting at least 30 shares for no or low cost. Sponsoring a share is donating to Another Spring Farm to directly offset the cost of producing these shares. Our BIPOC shares will go to households no matter what funds are raised but sponsoring a share financially supports this mission. Sponsoring a share is direct redistribution of wealth and an anti-racist action. It is mutual aid. It is the sharing of resources.

Another Spring Farm thanks you deeply for any contribution to this effort.
